Fan Appreciation – Toonie Admission Night Next on the Agenda at Canada’s Toughest 1/3rd Mile Oval

It hardly seems possible, but the 2013 racing season is winding-down and the 21st Annual Autumn Colours Classic is on the horizon at Peterborough Speedway.  While preparations for the Super Bowl of stock car racing are charging full speed ahead, the tight bullring on Mount Pleasant Road west of the Liftlock City will host another Fan Appreciation – Toonie Admission Night Saturday, August 17th.

Presented by Pepsi, the popular race program will feature the Battlefield Equipment Rental Four Fun, Peterborough Hyundai Mini Stock, Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car, Vanguard Self Storage Late Model and Ontario Legend divisions.  As an added bonus, the track will also host the final event in the Ontario Open Wheel Modified Racing Series to determine the year’s point champion.  Speedway owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse says he’s expecting a capacity crowd to take in the action.

“If the first 2 shows in this series are any indication, we’ll be jam-packed to the top row of the grandstands,” said Josiasse.  “It’s a great opportunity to see some exciting racing action and with the season point titles still up for grabs in every division, the battles will be fierce from the drop of the first green flag.  I imagine there’ll be fans ‘bench racing’ and swapping stories in the parking lot starting very early in the day.”

As always, the pit gates will open for the Fan Appreciation – Toonie Admission Night Saturday, August 17th at 3:00 with the spectator area unlocked at 5:00.  Racing starts at 6:00.  Complete schedule details and the latest news can always be found by checking www.peterboroughspeedway.com.  Fans can also follow the track on Facebook and Twitter.

Looking ahead on the calendar, the 2013 point crowns will be decided Saturday, August 24th at the Championship Clash.  Racing will include the Battlefield Equipment Rental Four Fun, Peterborough Hyundai Mini Stock, Moi Parry Spring Service Renegade Truck, Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car, Vanguard Self Storage Late Model and a 50 lap OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Model main event…plus a special pre-race corn roast.  Saturday, September 14th the track will host an open practice session for all Autumn Colours Classic divisions, starting at 9:00.  A 200 lap endurance event takes the green flag the same day at 7:00.

Peterborough Speedway’s 2013 season is presented in part by Paul Davis Systems, Reinhart Trailers, Dart Heating and Air Conditioning, Pennzoil, Pepsi, Country 105, Sound Off Signal and Peterborough Automotive.
