Time is Near for Peterborough Speedway Racers to Put Their Foot Down

Hometown stock car drivers have their own language. It is casually known as ‘Racer Speak’, where terms like stagger, tight, loose, push and bump n’ run get tossed around with the ease of their children’s names. At the Saturday night venue nicknamed Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval the unique vocabulary continues to grow as teams get set to begin the 55th consecutive year of weekly action at Peterborough Speedway.

The first green flag of the 2022 schedule is set fly Saturday, May 21st as Pure Country 105 presents the season opener, with free spectator grandstand admission and a full night of racing with the hometown Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck, KOD Disposal Super Stock and Late Model divisions, along with the Canadian Legend Car Series.

Track owner and promoter J.P. says the promotional team has put together a line-up that’ll keep everyone talking, no matter how you say it.

“Across the board, we have a pack of hungry racers who can’t wait for the chance to put their foot to the floor for the first time this year,” said J.P. Josiasse. “We’re betting on a stellar season with some strong car counts expected in our weekly divisions. There is still a bit of housekeeping to be taken care of, but just like the racers and fans out staff can’t wait to get the 2022 schedule underway.”

Again this year, Peterborough Speedway’s hometown entry-level classes will get the chance to showcase their talents in extra distance main events. Jiffy Lube Mini Stocks will step into the spotlight for a 50 lapper Saturday, May 28th while the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock runners have their 50 lap feature Saturday, August 27th.

Bullring bullet points: Fans can meet members of the Peterborough Speedway promotional team and enjoy some bench racing chats during the 2022 edition of the Toronto Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo, Friday, April 29th to Sunday, May 1st at the International Centre.
