Teams Take a Winning Attitude Into 2019 at Peterborough Speedway

Every driver heads into the new season believing they can win every race. Call it pride or ego, but the long hours of homework they’ve done behind the scenes and the preparation they put into their equipment provides the confidence they need to do the job in weekly action at their hometown raceway.

The 2019 season – the 52nd consecutive year of operation – at Peterborough Speedway is coming-up fast. Last year, close to 130 different drivers scored points in at least one main event in the track’s 5 regular classes. Each of them rolled through the pit gates believing they had a chance to win. Track owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse says its one of the reasons support at the venue known as Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval has been so strong.

“We’ve some impressive seasons on both sides of the fence,” said Josiasse. “Our numbers in the pit area have been solid, with impressive car counts and highly competitive fields in our weekly classes and the special guest touring series, while fan support – from opening night green flag on Victoria Day weekend to the final checkered of the Thanksgiving’s legendary 3 day Autumn Colours Classic – has been something any track promoter would love to have.”

Never the type of track promoter to be content with his past success, Josiasse and his Peterborough Speedway promotional team are putting-in some long hours to make this year’s season at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road one of best ever. This year’s lid-lifter will be here in about 5 months and everyone is getting ready. Short track racing is all about creating crowd excitement and the 2019 calendar will offer fans plenty to cheer about.

“We’ll release our official event schedule for this year at the 5th annual Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo – March 8th through 10th – at the International Centre in Toronto,” Josiasse explained. “Fans can stop by our booth anytime during the weekend to pick up a copy and visit with the representatives from the track, who’ll be on-hand throughout the show.”
