Summer Toonie Night Returns to Peterborough Speedway This Weekend

Two weeks into the 2019 season and the score is tied: Peterborough Speedway 1 and Mother Nature 1. After the Saturday, May 25th rainout, the next event on the schedule at Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval is the year’s first Summer Toonie/Fan Appreciation Night – presented by Pepsi – Saturday, June 1st.

Check between the cushions on the couch. In the car’s cup holder or the jeans you wear to cut the grass. All you’ll need is $2.00 to take-in a great night of family motorsports entertainment. With the first night of the season offering free admission and this weekend’s show just a toonie, track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse is quick to point out that the average general admission ticket this year works out to be about a dollar.

“I think you’d be hard-pressed to find that kind of value for a night out anywhere; not just in our region,” Josiasse said. “Even with the weather we’ve been experiencing this spring, sometimes things just kind of work out. We have an exciting season of action in store for everyone and we’re excited to get the cars back on the track.”

The schedule for Saturday, June 1st with $2.00 general admission includes the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, the recharged Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck line-up and Late Model divisions, along with the Trailers Plus Ontario Legends. Pit gates open at 1:30, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 4:00 and racing at 5:00.

A look ahead to Saturday, June 8th finds Peterborough Speedway’s annual Autism Awareness Night, with Kid’s Race in support of the Canadian National Autism Foundation. On track will be the hometown Bone Stock, Mini Stock, Super Stock and Late Model classes, with the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series and kid’s rides at intermission. Select the ‘schedule’ drop-down menu from the track web-site for full details.

Bullring bullet points: Drivers and teams will get another chance to shakedown their equipment prior to the next Saturday night of racing. Peterborough Speedway has scheduled an open practice session for all teams Thursday. May 30th from 5:00 to dusk. $10.00 per person.
