Peterborough Speedway is the Site of Short Track Racing Excitement

IMG_3863Motorsports enthusiasts across the province have made a trip to their hometown speedway for years and the venue that has become widely known as Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval is no exception. Throughout the spectator areas, you’ll regularly find families who’ve been sitting together in the same grandstand seats for generations and cheering for their favourite drivers to make it to the winner’s circle. Track owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse says its all part of building a successful brand.

“At Peterborough Speedway, we’ve been providing affordable family entertainment for racing enthusiasts across Central Ontario for nearly half a century,” said Josiasse. “Over the years, you’ll get to notice some familiar faces, learn people’s names and see how the different families have grown. Our drivers, race teams and staff members appreciate the loyalty and support that our fan base has provided to the track.”

With fewer than a handful of this year’s scheduled events finding their way into the record books, there has been some memorable action and incredible finishes. The Thunder Car and Mini Stock classes have each run caution-free main events and during the Fan Appreciation Night – Saturday, June 4th – the Renegade Truck and Late Model feature races had multiple lead changes, with the eventual winner not decided until the field came off the 4th turn on the final lap. And there has yet to be a repeat ‘A’ main checkered flag claimed in any of the track’s 5 weekly racing divisions.

Next up on the agenda for the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City is a night of action – Saturday, June 11th – that will feature the Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car, Earl Ireland Auto Sales Late Model and Ontario Modifieds Racing Series divisions. There will also be kid’s rides during the intermission. Pit gates will open at 3:00, with the spectator areas unlocked at 5:00 and racing underway at 6:00.
