Fan Appreciation Night Celebrates the Racing Experience at Peterborough Speedway

IMG_3851 (2)An evening at the speedway is all about the fans. The drivers, race teams and staff at Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval do everything possible to provide a great night of family entertainment and Saturday, June 4th Pepsi presents the year’s first Fan Appreciation Night, with spectator grandstand admission priced at just a toonie. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says it’s a popular outing for everyone.

“We have 3 of these events on the line-up every season and people circle the dates on their calendars as soon as the schedule is announced,” said Josiasse. “From signing autograph cards, handing out treats and talking to the fans, the drivers enjoy meeting the who come to watch them battle on the track every Saturday night and for some, it’s the first step in developing a following that can last for years.”

Action on the track will include Peterborough Speedway’s Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Renegade Truck and Earl Ireland Auto Sales Late Model divisions; along with the Trailers Plus INEX Ontario Legends Series. Even though its just coming-up to the 3rd event of the season, 2016 is looking like another highly competitive campaign at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City.

There has yet to be a repeat feature race winner in any of the weekly classes and while defending track champions Ryan Oosterholt and Tyler Junkin have earned checkered flags in the Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun and Jiffy Lube Mini Stock fields respectively, Jeremy Kelly claimed his first ever main event win, while James Townsend – a former Autumn Colours Classic winner – captured a ‘first in a long time’ feature victory.

For the Fan Appreciation/Toonie Spectator Grandstand Admission event, presented by Pepsi – Saturday, June 4th – pit gates will open at 2:00, with the spectator areas unlocked at 4:00 and the first Great Canadian RV green flag at 5:00.
