Donovan Price Puts Plans Into Gear for His 2020 Season

Some weekly racers are content to give things a try for a few seasons before moving in another direction, while others keep plying their craft year-after-year. Donovan Price would fall into the latter category.

Even though he’s run just a partial schedule over the past several seasons, the 42-year-old from Brooklin, Ontario – who now makes his home in Courtice – has been involved in the sport for more than half his life. With a background that includes starts in the karting, Mini Stock, Legend, Late Model and Super Stock racing ranks, the 2020 calendar will mark the 23rd year behind the wheel.

“Like any other sport, there have been highs and lows throughout the different stages of my career but I keep coming back,” said Donovan Price. “Win or lose, driving a race car is one of my favourite things to do in my spare time. I’ve never really tried to set any career goals. I’m just looking to be the best possible ambassador for my sponsors and the fans.”

After finishing just outside of the top 10 in last year’s KOD Disposal Super Stock point standings at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, the father of 17 and 8-year-old sons – who works as a tanker operator with GFL Environmental – has committed to a schedule of about half a dozen of the Saturday night events at the same track for starters, with more dates expected to be added as available marketing support resources and time permit.

“We’re looking to put together a package that will benefit our team and work its best for the sponsors,” stated Price, when talking about his potent #96 Mustang racer. “Its an exciting time of year and we’re putting-in some late nights at the shop to make sure everything is ready to roll. Everyone who is associated with this car is eager to get things underway and head back to the track.

With the 2020 Peterborough Speedway schedule set to begin Saturday, May 16th with the Pure Country 105 Season Opener, Donovan Price is looking for additional primary, secondary and associate sponsorship to join the team that includes Durham Muay Thai Kickboxing, R & R Trail Motorsports, Pro Lube and technical support from THINKPATH Design.
