Country 105 Opener Launches Peterborough Speedway’s 2019 Schedule

Depending on the context where its used, the word ‘free’ can have many different meanings. The Country 105 Season Opener – Saturday, May 18th – at Peterborough Speedway is the best kind of free; as in free spectator grandstand admission. The 2019 campaign at the venue known as Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval kicks-off with a night of action and thrills for everyone.

“Opening night gives our fans the chance to see their favourite cars and classes do battle,” J.P. Josiasse – track owner and promoter – said. “We’re rolling out the welcome mat for our 52nd consecutive season of racing with our Saturday night fan favorites, plus the inaugural round for the Trailers Plus Ontario Legends Series.”

After a few pre-season shakedown sessions, Josiasse says it seems like everyone is raring to hit the track for the first green flag. There’ll be bright, shiny new paint schemes, fresh sponsorship combinations, familiar faces in different places and drivers who’ll be running their first ever laps at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road. The home track Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck, KOD Disposal Super Stock and Late Model teams are ready to rock.

“The off-season is busy and there is always so much going on,” Josiasse said. “This show is the payoff for all the late nights and long hours spent in the garage and making sure the equipment is ready for the initial green flag. The waiting is almost over for everyone and the timing couldn’t be better.”

For the Saturday, May 18th lid-lifter pit gates open at 12:30, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 3:00 and the first qualifying heat leaves the staging area at 5:00. Looking ahead to Saturday, May 25th finds a 50 lap main event for the Mini Stocks. Also on the card will be the Bone Stock and Super Stock divisions. The Ontario Modifieds Racing Series, Ontario Pro Challenge and OSCAAR Pro Sprint tours will make their first Peterborough Speedway starts of the year.

Bullring bullet points: Don’t forget that the Summer Toonie Nights – presented by Pepsi – are back on the schedule again this year. June 1st, July 6th and August 17th enjoy a great night of racing – with a fan appreciation autograph session at intermission – for just $2.00.
