Counting Down to the 2022 Season Opener at Peterborough Speedway

It won’t be long now.

 

The venue known as Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval is set to launch its 55th consecutive schedule of hometown racing with the Pure Country 105 season opener – featuring free spectator grandstand admission – Saturday, May 21st. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says that with this year’s Peterborough Speedway lid-lifter less than a couple of weeks away, everything is set to roll.

 

“It was a typically busy off-season with plenty of activity behind the scenes but other than a few final housekeeping issues, we’re ready to open the gates,” said Josiasse. “Provincial government restrictions have been eliminated so I think we’ll have a strong crowd join us for an exciting night of racing to start the year.”

 

Track officials will give drivers and race teams 3 chances to log some track time and put their equipment through its paces leading-up to the season opener. Saturday, May 14th from 11:00 ‘til 4:00. Tuesday and Thursday, May 17th and 19th from 4:00 to dusk. Sessions are $25.00 for car and driver. $15.00 per each additional crew member. It will also be an opportunity for go through the new Kenny U-Pull Teck Lane for pre-season technical and safety inspection.

 

2022 opening night racing at Peterborough Speedway will once again include the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck, KOD Disposal Super Stock and hometown Late Model divisions, along with the Canadian Legend Car Series. Pit gates will open at 12:30, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 3:00 and the first green flag of the new season at 5:00.

 

“This year, fans will have a couple of different options for purchasing grandstand admission tickets,” explained J.P. Josiasse. “We’ll be using Event Sprout, the same online platform we had in 2021 and our events will be live on the site shortly. Our trackside ticket booth will once again be open on raceday. Season passes are also available. Details and package pricing can be found by selecting checking the option at ‘Fan Info’ drop-down menu on the track website.”
