Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval is Ready to Rock for the 2022 Season

Another season of hometown racing is just around the corner and Peterborough Speedway is heading into action firing on all cylinders.

The 2022 lid-lifter – presented by Pure Country 105 – is slated for Saturday, May 21st with free spectator grandstand admission and full night of exciting racing with the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck, KOD Disposal Super Stock, Late Model and Canadian Legend Car divisions.

“With everything we have lined-up for this year and our 16 consecutive Saturday nights of racing, it could very well be the biggest season in our 55 year history,” explained Peterborough Speedway owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse. “Many of the provincial restrictions we’d been dealing with will be relaxed or eliminated in time for our first green flag and then it’ll be all systems go.”

In addition to seeing familiar faces in different places, fans will also get their first taste of a new racing division as the Junior Late Models will make a handful of starts during the 2022 season. Special guest classes including the Canadian Legend Cars, OMRS Modifieds, Outlaw Midgets, Ontario Outlaw Super Late Models, OSCAAR Hot Rods and Modifieds along with the TQ Midgets and Ontario Sportsman Series will be on the schedule throughout the year.

Josiasse is pleased to confirm that the APC Pro Late Model Series will be on hand Saturday, June 18th for a 100 lap main event that also includes a 50 lap feature for the Qwick Wick Super Stock Series, along with the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stocks and Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Trucks. It will be the popular tour’s first Peterborough Speedway start since 2018 when multi-time series champion Brandon Watson claimed his 2nd of 2 consecutive checkered flags at the tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road.

“Our staff has put in some long hours to get everything ready for the season kick-off and there is a lot to look forward to,” Josiasse said. “Of course it wouldn’t be possible to have a Peterborough Speedway schedule without the Toonie Fan Appreciation Nights, presented by Pepsi. Saturday, June 4th, July 2nd and August 13th general admission grandstand passes are only $4.00 for a great night of racing with a driver meet and greet autograph session at intermission.”
