After running the entire 50th anniversary schedule without a single rainout, Mother Nature has thrown officials at Peterborough Speedway a curve, forcing the much anticipated 2018 season opening event to be delayed.

“Like everyone else, we were watching the forecasts all week,” track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse said. “Things changed a little, but never enough that we’d be able to get the show in the books as scheduled. We know how much our fans look forward to this show, so we’ve come-up with a new plan of attack.”

Josiasse says the Country 105 Season Opener – with free spectator grandstand admission – will now be held Saturday, May 26th. On track action will feature the hometown Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock and Super Stock divisions. Also on the docket will be the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series, Ontario Pro Challenge and OSCAAR Pro Midgets. As originally scheduled, there will be a fan appreciation autograph session at intermission. Pit gates will open at 12:30, with the general admission grandstands unlocked at 3:00 and racing at 5:00.

Looking ahead at the schedule finds the first of the year’s 3 Summer Toonie Nights – presented by Pepsi – Saturday, June 2nd. Bone Stocks, Mini Stocks and the Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Trucks will share the spotlight with the Trailers Plus Ontario Legends and a 50 lap ‘A’ main for the local Late Model stars. See the track web-site and social media platforms for complete details.

Bullring bullet points: Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval is Central Ontario’s destination for Saturday night racing excitement and the 2018 schedule wraps-up with the 26th annual edition of the Autumn Colours Classic, with action from close to a dozen different racing divisions – Friday through Sunday – October 5th, 6th and 7th.
