Pole Qualifier Locks-in Autumn Colours Classic Front Row Spots

IMG_3479 (2)When it comes to marquee motorsports events, there’s no show in the province that compares with the Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough Speedway. The 24th annual running of what has become known as the Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing takes the green flag – Friday, Saturday and Sunday – October 7th through 9th.

Sunday, July 3rd teams will take to the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road west of the Liftlock City to battle it out in the Chase for the Colours Pole Qualifier – presented by Lucas Oil Products – that will award guaranteed front row starting spots in the Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car and Earl Ireland Late Model divisions at the season ending spectacular. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says grabbing a preferred starting spot is on the bucket list for a lot of drivers.

“Qualifying for the Autumn Colours Classic can be an intense and arduous task,” said Josiasse. “Being able to lock-in your starting spot more than 3 months before the show will give teams one less thing to worry about as they head into the big dance. Its one less thing to worry about as the second half of the season rolls along.”

With extra-distance feature races – 75 laps for the Late Models, 40 for the Thunder Cars, 30 for the Mini Stocks and 25 for 4Fun teams – some of the best short track racers in the business will be looking to work their way into the big dance. For this special Sunday, July 3rd event pit gates will open at 11:00, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 1:00 and racing getting started at 2:30.

Bullring Bullet Points: Running the Chase for the Colours Pole Qualifier isn’t just a chance to earn a preferred starting spot for the Autumn Colours Classic. Track regulars will also receive 85 show-up points toward the season championship…Looking ahead at the schedule finds another Fan Appreciation/Toonie Spectator Grandstand Admission Night – presented by Pepsi – on the agenda for Saturday, July 9th. The second ever appearance by the APC Pro Late Model Tour is slated for Saturday, July 16th, while the Country 105 Mid Summer Bash is Saturday, July 23rd.
