Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval is about launch the most exciting schedule in its history. Action gets underway Saturday, May 20th as Peterborough Speedway kicks-off its 50th Anniversary campaign with the Country 105 Season Opener, featuring free spectator grandstand admission.

The first show of the 16-event regular season includes the home track Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Renegade Truck, Thunder Car and Organics & Glass Late Model divisions. Also on the program will be the opening event for the upstart Eastern Ontario Legends Series and an on-track Fan Appreciation autograph session during the intermission. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says all expectations point to a very busy year at the popular Central Ontario raceway.

“We had the opportunity to meet with and talk to a lot of fans at the Motorama show in Toronto and our other pre-season promotional events,” Josiasse said. “Everyone really seems to be excited about our 50th Anniversary plans. Our regular classes look to be especially strong and teams in the visiting divisions are also anxious for their chance to be part of our history-making schedule.”

As the season rolls on, the year’s trio of Toonie Spectator Grandstand Admission/Fan Appreciation Nights – presented by Pepsi – will return to the schedule June 3rd, July 8th and August 19th.  There will also be special 50 lap main events for the track’s weekly divisions, starting with the Late Models on June 3rd, Mini Stocks June 10th, 4Fun July 15th and Thunder Cars Saturday, July 22nd.

Josiasse says the best way to keep on top of all the 50th Anniversary schedule events is with a season pass and Peterborough Speedway has a variety of plans and packages to suit any budget. Take-in 16 regular nights, including the Chase for the Colours and Touring Chase for the Colours shows, the APC Late Model event and Championship Clash for only $170. That’s $48 off the general admission price. The Super Pass includes everything in the Season Pass, plus the 25th Annual Autumn Colours Classic for just $210; a $63 price reduction. Fans can also bundle their 10 favourite events at $120, a saving of $20.

Bullring bullet points: The 50th Anniversary Season is the biggest event in the history of the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City and fans can keep on top of all the details by logging onto www.peterboroughspeedway.com, liking the Peterborough Speedway page on Facebook or following it on Twitter.
