Anticipation is building.  The countdown is on and another season of action at Peterborough Speedway will take the green flag Saturday, May 17th. Opening night may still be a few weeks away, but the tight bullring on Mount Pleasant Road continues to make headlines with sponsorship signings and announcements.

Track owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse has brought Earl Ireland Auto Sales into the fold for 2014 as title sponsor of the Late Model division.  A former Pro Late Model and Super Late Model competitor, Ireland has provided sponsorship support for a number of drivers over the years and Josiasse says he’d proud to have him on-board as part of this year’s team.

Bull Ring Bullet Points:  Fans can see some of the cars from Peterborough Speedway and pick-up a 2014 track schedule during this year’s racing preview event – Monday, April 28th to Sunday, May 4th – at Lindsay Square …Drivers and teams will get the chance to shake down their equipment prior to the 2014 season opener.  Peterborough Speedway will host an open practice session for all divisions Saturday, May 10th from 10:00 ’til 3:00.  There will also be track testing times booked for Tuesday, May 13th and Thursday, May 15th from 4:00 to dusk each day.

The new campaign at Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval takes the green flag with the Country 105 Season Opener – with free spectator grandstand admission – Saturday, May 17th.  Fans will enjoy a full night of racing, plus an on-track autograph session.  Gates open at 4:00, with racing at 6:00.  There will also be Toonie Admission nights – presented by Pepsi – Saturday, May 31st, July 19th and August 16th.  Grandstand gates open at 5:00, with the first heat race rolling from the staging area at 6:00.

The highlight of every agenda is the annual running of the Autumn Colours Classic, presented by Lucas Oil Products.  This year’s edition hits the track October 10th, 11th and 12th.
