Peterborough Speedway Rainout Gives Advance Ticket Holders Different Options

As if hometown speedway operators haven’t already gone through enough over the past 2 years, anticipated heavy rains and thunderstorms forced officials at Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval to cancel the Saturday, July 24th program.

“With the possibility of rainfall amounts reaching between 30 and 50 mm, we had to make a decision that was in the best interests of our fans and race teams,” explained Peterborough Speedway track owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse. “Our team understands that everyone would prefer to be watching some of the best short track action in the province, but the forecast just wasn’t conducive with a good night of racing. The last thing we want to do is start a show that we won’t be able to finish.”

Using the mandatory advance ticket purchasing platform to ensure government required contact tracing, fans will automatically have their tickets from the July 24th rainout upgraded to the Saturday, July 31st show that features the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, KOD Disposal Super Stock divisions, along with the OSCAAR Modifieds and Outlaw Midgets. Spectator gates open at 4:00, with the night’s first Great Canadian RV green flag at 6:00.

“If anyone who had planned to be at the rained-out show is unable to make the July 31st date, or if they already have tickets for that night, we have other options available,” Josiasse said. “With a deadline of Thursday, July 29th at noon, no extra charge upgrades can be made for any of the single day events remaining in the 2021 regular season schedule. Please email info@peterboroughspeedway.com to make arrangements”.

Details for the upcoming August shows that will include appearances by the Quick Wick Super Stock, Ontario Sportsman Series, OSCAAR Hot Rod tours in addition to the excellent home track classes will be available on the ticket platform soon. Fans not requiring ticket upgrades can purchase grandstand admission passes for next month’s events on the platform www.eventsprout.com/events/peterborough-speedway-2000-ltd.

The local racing scene is constantly changing. Full details on the 2021 schedule can always be found at www.peterboroughspeedway.com or on the track’s Facebook and Twitter social media platforms. There is also a free smartphone app available.
