Peterborough Speedway Heads to the Canadian Motorsports Expo

20130210_105534Central Ontario race fans have been counting the days since the final checkered flag of the 2013 Autumn Colours Classic and even though there is still plenty of winter weather left, the new season of action at Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Oval gets closer to reality with Peterborough Speedway’s participation at the Canadian Motorsports Expo.

The event, presented by Inside Track Motorsports News takes centre stage at Toronto’s International Centre Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 7th through 9th.  Speedway owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse says being part of this racing showcase has become a tradition for the track.

“We’ve been a supporter of this show since day 1,” said Josiasse.  “It’s a great way to get the word out about our upcoming schedule and meet some of the fans who spend their Saturday nights with us through the season.  No matter how tough the winter weather may have been, the Canadian Motorsports Expo gets people revved-up and excited about another season of action.”

New at this year’s CME will be the first annual Short Track Night of Champions, culminating with the Short Track Awards, Saturday, February 8th.  A collaborative effort of www.ontariooval.com, www.insidetracknews.com and www.ondirtracingnews.com, the presentation honouring hometown racing champions will be co-hosted by notable short track announcers Greg Calnan and Spencer Lewis. Each of Peterborough Speedway’s 2013 track champions has been invited to attend.

“Our fans love cheering for their favourite drivers on a week-to-week basis at the track and seeing them acknowledged at an event like the Canadian Motorsports Expo is a real shot in the arm,” said Josiasse.  “Everyone works so hard to put together a race-winning program I think it’s great to see the show organizers get behind what they’re doing.”
