Ontario Legends’ Road Show Heads Back to Peterborough Speedway

Action on the track has been impressive. Car counts have been strong. But weather has been the biggest story in the early stages of the 2019 Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Series schedule. A pair of shows at Sunset Speedway were washed-out, as was the Saturday, June 1st date at Peterborough Speedway.

Using the posted schedule as a template, the Saturday, June 15th race at Peterborough should be the 5th show of the year, but so far the only completed event on this year’s calendar was the May 18th date at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road. Series spokesperson Jeff Drimmie says the drivers and teams are anxious to get in a full night of racing.

“Its been frustrating, but we’re not the only ones feeling the pain,” Drimmie explained. “Hopefully, we can get things turned around and get the cars on the track. We’ve seen some good numbers, with between 25 and 30 teams in the pits. Now its just a matter of putting on a show for the fans who come out to see our exciting brand of racing.”

With the most recent cancellation at Peterborough coming just as the 5th qualifier of the night was completed teams will be running that night’s main event along with the regularly scheduled show on June 15th. The line-up for the first feature was determined through the heats that were run on June 1st, while the grid for the second headliner will be determined by a new set of heat races. Pit gates will open at 2:30, with the grandstands unlocked at 5:00 and racing at 6:00.
