Ontario Legends Championship Race + King of the Hill

Ontario Legends Championship Race + King of the Hill

by on September 17, 2011 in Featured News

The Weather turned cold but the racing was hot as …. well, let’s just say it was HOTTTTT!

Parry Springs Renegade Trucks took to the track with the Biersworth racing family trying to dominate Canada’s fastest & toughest 1/3 mile oval.  With Stephen (Daddy) Biersworth taking one of the heat wins along with a close family friend Bill O’Hara taking the other heat win.  But the story of the night was Stacey Bierworth in the feature race; with a massive crash involving the #6 of Bill O’Hara and the #29 Parry Springs Truck and the #37 of Stacey Bierworth demolishing the front of her truck, but in an amazing feat of some great mechanics, they were able to repair the #37 replacing the front Radiator and getting her out to race in time to take a checkered flag at the end of the night.

The Battlefield Equipment 4Funs had double the action with a twin 20 lap feature night.  New comer to Peterborough Speedway #99 Chris Mulders came with expectations to run well with his sites set on the upcoming Autumn Colours Classic.  I’d say he is well on his way with both a heat win as well as winning his first Feature race ever.  But the Crowd favorite Ember Junkin (#19) is chasing the points leader #34 of Kevin Strutt, and to close that gap just a little more, she picked up another win in the second feature race.

The big boys came out to play tonight with the Peterborough Speedway Late Models. The points championship race is starting to heat up with Chris Bell (#66) leading the points and finishing tonight with a solid 2nd place finish.  But it was Chris Mitchell parking his #22 Toyota in Victory lane for the 1st time this season.

King of the Hill had the Younger brother to the Larry Jr / Howie Crowe racing team redeeming himself with an impressive 18.2 Second lap winning the title of King Of The Hill.

Then it was the Ontario Legends turn to heat up the excitement.  The Ontario Legends started the night off with a make good feature race which had current points leader #24 Andy Warbutton blow up an engine with only 3 laps to go, opening the door for Matt Haufe #7 to take his first victory in the Ontario Legends series racing.  In the Second Feature race 2 time series champion Adam Cuthbertson (#79) pulled up another impressive win to end off the year.  But this was also the Championship night for the Ontario Legends, with Paul Pierk (#33) coming in 3rd, Bill (Waving Willy #4) Mason in second, and despite blowing his engine in the first heat race, Andy Warbutton (#24) was crowned the 2011 Champion of the Ontario Legend Series.

Next week is the LAST points race at Peterborough Speedway, and the battles are not over yet!
