OMRS Bill Pickford Memorial in the Peterborough Speedway Saturday Night Spotlight

Drivers and teams with the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series, presented by GEN-3 Electrical will pay tribute to the life and times of a fallen friend – Saturday, August 20th – at Peterborough Speedway.

After a series of unfortunate delays and postponements, the inaugural running of the Bill Pickford Memorial event, honouring one of the group’s founders and former racers will take the green flag this weekend at the venue known as Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval. Joining the popular open-wheeled racing series will be the home track Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, KOD Disposal Super Stock and Late Model divisions, with Kid’s Rides as the intermission feature. Pit gates will open at 2:30, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 5:00 and racing at 6:00.

“Bill Pickford was a well-respected member of the provincial motorsports community,” said Peterborough Speedway track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse. “Its both an honour and privilege for our weekly team to host such a prestigious event. OMRS has been an important part of our annual line-up for several seasons and their group has put together a special show to pay tribute to Bill.”

Still to come on the 2022 regular season schedule before the Saturday, September 3rd Championship Clash will see a 50-lap feature for the Bone Stocks, plus regular distance main events for the Mini Stock, Super Stock, Late Model and Junior Late Models, plus Kid’s Bike Races Saturday, August 27th.
