Toonie Grandstand Admission/Fan Appreciation Night at Peterborough Speedway Today

Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval was scheduled to host the year’s first of 3 Toonie Grandstand Admission/Fan Appreciation Nights – Saturday, May 30th – but the weather forecasters had a different idea. With heavy and steady rain predicted for most of the region, Peterborough Speedway officials made the decision to throw in the towel. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says it was a difficult call to have to make.

“We made a decision and posted word on social media and our site just after 11:00 to give fans and race teams plenty of advance notice,” said Josiasse. “At that time, it hadn’t started to rain but everyone knew it was coming. The phone in the office was ringing off the hook, but we were already working on some ideas that would give our dedicated followers what they want.”

The track has planned a show, with the Battlefield Equipment 4Fun, Mini Stock and Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car classes Saturday, June 6th. The INEX Ontario Legends will also be part of the night’s action, as will the on-track autograph session at intermission. Racing will wrap-up for the night with a 100 lap endurance event.

To accommodate the revised schedule, all times on Peterborough Speedway’s posted schedule for Saturday, June 6th will be moved ahead one hour. Pit gates will open at 2:00, with spectator grandstands unlocked at 4:00 and racing at 5:00. Fans will see a great night of action for just a toonie.
