James Townsend Has His Sights Set on the 2022 Late Model Crown

At the start of the season, James Townsend was determined to put his car in a position to win whenever possible. Heading into the Saturday, September 3rd Championship Clash at Peterborough Speedway, stats show he has been successful 3 times in his 8 attempts. The 32-year-old racer, who hails from Newtonville, Ontario leads the Late Model point standings with only the all-important finale remaining on the regular season schedule.

“I’m really pleased with the way things have gone. It’s been a great year,” said James Townsend, who won the Mini Stock championship in 2016 and 2017. “There’s no telling what might happen when they throw the green flag on Saturday night. Having a bit of a cushion because of the point going into the last night of the year is a good start and I’m hoping for the best.”

James Townsend’s No. 52 Peterborough Speedway Late Model program is proudly backed by Just Hockey, Warrior Hockey, Crowe’s Gas, Arrigos Automotive and Gordon Racing. The driver also thanks his family members and friends for their help and support during the 2022 season.

The Championship Clash – Saturday, September 3rd at Peterborough Speedway – is the final event of this year’s regular season. Pit gates open at 12:30, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 3:00 and the night’s first green flag at 5:00.
