INEX Ontario Legends Series Heads Back to Peterborough Speedway

IMG_2582The final weekend of June didn’t prove to be very popular with motorsports enthusiasts as the year’s first appearance for the INEX Ontario Legends Series at Sunset Speedway fell victim to Mother Nature. The tour bounced back with its 4th show of the season – Saturday, July 4th – at Peterborough Speedway.

Alex Pacheco from Charlotte, North Carolina and Kevin Foisy brought the field to the stripe as 19 INEX Ontario Legends Series teams took to Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval for their 25 lap feature.

Nicholas Ledson used his starting spot inside the second row to perfection and moved into the runner-up position early on and joined the front row starters in a 3 car breakaway, with Brian Saunders, Dave Riopelle and Cole Ledson chasing the lead trio. As the front runners scored the 7th lap, something broke on the #11 machine, sending Michael Glaze hard into the 3rd turn wall. The driver was unhurt, but the car was unable to continue and needed to be cradled into the pits.

After 12 circuits found their way into the record book, Foisy and Nick Ledson were fighting for a spot when the pair made contact entering the 3rd turn. Neither driver was hurt and each car took their place at the tail of the field for the restart. Pacheco took the win over Saunders. Nick Ledson made it back to 3rd at the checkers, with Riopelle and Foisy 4th and 5th. Cole Ledson, Bill Mason, Jamie Riberdy, Terry McClelland, Cole McFadden, Robin Jongen, Mark Griffen, Jamie MacArthur, Parker Traves, Don Arnott, Duane Cinnamon, Willy Howells and Michael Glaze completed the finishing order.

INEX Ontario Legends Series qualifying heats went to Nicholas Ledson with a pair, Kevin Foisy and Alex Pacheco.

INEX Ontario Legends Series notes: Duane Cinnamon did double-duty on the night, campaigning his Legends car and an Ontario Modifieds Racing Series machine.
