Getting Fans Ready for the 2019 Season at Peterborough Speedway

There is likely plenty of winter weather still left to come, but that’s okay. Nothing can dampen the enthusiasm of motorsports enthusiasts in Central Ontario when it comes to the 2019 season at Peterborough Speedway. The first green flag of the year – scheduled for Saturday, May 18th – is still more than a couple of months away, but fans are already counting the days until the Country 105 season opener.

“Our team is working hard to dot every “I” and cross every “T” before this year’s lid-lifter,” said track owner and promoter J,P. Josiasse. “It takes some full days and late nights to get everything together, but we have the right people in the right places to make sure it all gets done. I’m confident we’ll have things ready, in place and set to rock when they roll open the main gates.”

Before anyone turns a lap at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, Peterborough Speedway officials will be part of a trio of pre-season promotional events. Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval will officially launch its 2019 schedule at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo – March 8th through 10th – at the International Centre in Toronto. Track reps will be on hand throughout the weekend to meet with fans and answer questions about the upcoming season. Plans are also underway to have drivers available for autographs during each day of the show.

Also on this year’s road show agenda will be an appearance at the 41st annual Kawartha Home, Cottage and Country Show – April 5th to 7th – at the Evinrude Centre and the annual track preview show – April 7th to 13th – at Lindsay Square. Josiasse says all the pre-season special events are the perfect chance for drivers and speedway officials to get together with the fans.

“Everyone we get the chance to talk to helps us lay the foundation for introducing a new group of supporters to the track,” said Josiasse. “If we can get them through the front gates for just one show, there’s a good chance we’ll be able to have them back for more throughout the season. Every year, our opening night – presented by Country 105 – features free spectator grandstand admission and driver autograph session at intermission. It’s a great way to kick-off a new season of exciting family motorsports entertainment.”
