First Round Qualifying Kicks-Off the 27th Annual Autumn Colours Classic

After close to a month on the sidelines, Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval roared back to life Friday, October 11th to open the 27th annual Autumn Colours Classic, presented by Lucas Oil Products and Pure Country 105.

 

Kenny McNicol Jr., Wes Cuthbertson and Parker Traves picked-up win in the 3 Ontario Legends heats, with Tyler Hawn, Steve Book and Ed Bowlby scored checkered flags in the trio of OSCAAR Hot Rod qualifiers. A hat trick of Jiffy Lube Mini Stock preliminary rounds were shared by Warren Paxton, 2019 track champion Nolan Gould and Isaac Dippel.

 

Anthony DiBello and Andy Kamrath took the OSCAAR Modified heats, with Ethan Constable and Dan Archibald winning the KOD Disposal Super Stock qualifiers. Nick Lees, Fred Jordan and Steve Finnegan were the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock winners on Friday night.

 

The final events for this year’s Autumn Colours Classic were the annual Young Guns races, presented by APC Auto Parts. In the 20 lap Mini Stock show, for drivers 21 years of age or younger, former ACC and NASCAR Pinty’s Series champion Cayden Lapcevich picked-up the win, over Isaac Dippel, Gil Brooks, Gavin Sanders and Chandler Bos. For Super Stock runners aged 24 or less, Colton Everingham grabbed the win. Marlie Owen, Treyten Lapcevich, Tyler Bouillon and Ethan Constable completed the top 5.

 

Action continues Saturday, October 12th with the second round of heat races for several divisions and the weekend’s first heats for the Electric City 167 Late Models, Outlaw Midgets and OSCAAR Pro Sprints. Pit gates open at 10:00, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 1:00 and the first green flag of the day at 3:30.

 

Bullring bullet points: Jarrett Gage of Peterborough pocketed close to $550 in the night’s 50/50 draw…With drivers from several different speedways represented in the starting field, track officials earned full marks for making sure the crowd got the information they needed to support their favourite runners…Former Ontario Legends Series jjjchampion Matt Haufe returned to action on the opening night, wheeling Kevin Foisy’s #57.
