Chase for the Colours Pole Qualifier Rolls to the Line at Peterborough Speedway

Its an event so rare that it only happens once during every regular season. Saturday, July 1st there will be no racing at Peterborough Speedway. They’ll switch the focus to Sunday afternoon action on July 2nd, with the Chase for the Colours Pole Qualifier. Extra distance events for the Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Thunder Car and Organics & Glass Late Model divisions to set the front row starting spots for the 25th Annual Autumn Colours Classic.

“Autumn Colours has been dubbed the Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing in Ontario and for very good reason,” explained J.P. Josiasse, Peterborough Speedway owner and promoter. “Just cracking the starting field is a huge accomplishment and drivers will do almost anything to make the show. Being able to claim a preferred starting spot for this season-ending spectacular could be the first step toward a career defining moment.”

Josiasse says racers from across the province are expected to roll through the pit gate for the Sunday afternoon special event. Sunset Speedway will have Coltin Everingham and Danny Benedict – among others – in attendance. For Benedict, it will be his first ever Late Model start at Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval. The last laps the Orono, Ontario ran at Peterborough were in a Mini Stock at the 2015 Autumn Colours Classic, where he finished 3rd.

Fan favourite Amanda Balson will be in the Late Model starting line-up for just her second appearance of the 50th Anniversary Season. The 2009 track champion says that if everything goes according to plan, she’ll run all 5 events during July at Peterborough Speedway.

At the Sunday, July 2nd Chase for the Colours Pole Qualifier event, pit gates will open at 11:00, with the general admission spectator grandstands unlocked at 1:00 and the day’s first green flag at 2:30.
