Everything is better when it is fresh.

With the 2022 season about a couple of weeks away from its first green flag there will be some bright, new colour schemes and some fresh faces in the Canadian Legend Car Series starting field. Tour spokesperson Kevin Foisy says that while its impossible to predict the exact driver line-up until the first event of the season, it looks like a strong year for the series.

“Preliminary registration numbers show close to 45 teams signed-up for the new schedule,” according to Foisy. “Out of those numbers, there could be around a dozen in the running for rookie of the year honours. A couple – like Caleb Drimmie and Rob Einarson – have made a few starts here and there, but most of the first year contenders will be taking their inaugural laps in a Canadian Legend Car Series ride.”

After getting his motorsports start in the weekly Thunder Car/Super Stock division, Chad Strawn has scored multiple feature event wins with the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series. For 2022, the 36-year-old father of 2 from Newcastle, Ontario will add experience in a Legend Car machine to his resume. Strawn says he will continue to follow the OMRS schedule in addition to climbing behind the controls of his No. 35 Legend.

Foisy says there will also be some changes on the sponsorship side of things as the schedule gets set to kick things into gear Saturday. May 21st at Peterborough Speedway. Trailers Plus will return to the fold and will be joined by a group of event backers who will step-up to the table on a rotating basis throughout the season. Marketing reps with the series have been crisscrossing the province to bring new advertising partners to the exciting brand of racing.

Peter Smith Chevrolet Buick Cadillac GMC – Belleville, RW Electric – Kingston, Simcoe County Auto & RV Outlet, Bay Marine – Quinte West, Reid’s Insulating – Belleville and Visco Industrial (Traction/NAPA) – Barrie have come on board to this point, with more coming soon.

There will be 14 dates on the 2022 Canadian Legend Car Series line-up, including the annual running of the Canadian Legend Car Asphalt Nationals – Saturday and Sunday, September 3rd and 4th – at Sunset Speedway. Drivers and series officials are looking forward to the moment the pack heads from the pits to the fans for the first time.
