Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval is Set for a Saturday Night Showdown

IMG_2367Solid early season shows have Peterborough Speedway’s 2015 calendar off to a rocking start. Car counts have been great and spectator interest is strong. It’s the perfect combination for an exciting campaign at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says he’s pleased to see the way things have gotten underway.

“This is exactly how I hoped the season would start,” said Josiasse. “Other than the May 30th rainout – which is nothing we can control – I think things are going according to plan. Fans are seeing some exciting racing and we’re barely a month into the schedule. I like where we’re headed and the best is still to come.”

Losing one event to weather may seem as a negative point to some, but on a positive note, it has allowed Earl Ireland Auto Sales Late Model driver Tyler Betts and Renegade Truck runner Tim Burke to tell their sponsors, fans, family and friends that they’ve been leading the points in their respective divisions since the start of the year. Each driver won the main event during the Saturday, May 16th season opener and their classes have yet to return to action.

Racing returns to the venue known as Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval Saturday, June 13th as the Can Am TQ Midgets join the Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun, Mini Stock, Renegade Truck and Earl Ireland Auto Sales Late Model divisions. There will also be kid’s bike races during the intermission. Pit gates open at 3:00, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 5:00 and the night’s first green flag at 6:00.

Looking ahead on the agenda finds the Chase for the Colours Pole Qualifying event slated for a 2:30 start Sunday, June 28th. Extra distance events for the 4Fun, Mini Stock, Thunder Car and Late Model teams will help determine guaranteed starting spots for the 23rd Annual Autumn Colours Classic in October. Saturday, July 18th the APC Pro Late Model Series will make its Peterborough Speedway debut for a 100 lap spectacular, along with the 4Fun, Thunder Car and OSCAAR Midget divisions.
