Cathcart Trucking Enduro Series - Round #1
For many people they enjoy racing for the bumping, banging, and crashes. I found a series for you. Although the May 24 weekend, which was a week early for some reason, was cold and wet across most of Ontario, Peterborough Speedway managed to get in their Cathcart Trucking Enduro race on the holiday Monday. The English dictionary defines endurance as : Ability to withstand problems or hardship. So we take 25 cars of all sizes and make, put them on a 1/3 mile paved track, and then tell them to race 250 laps. That’s endurance. I know this would sound like 200 laps of caution laps so we remove the yellow flag. Actually only 4 flags are used: Green, Red, and Checkered. The race is controlled by the black flag in most cases. In this case though the black doesn’t mean your race is over, but instead is used to identify a problem. This might be mechanical, or fluid leaking, or a slight driver adjustment. The race actually only used the red several times to get the field to stop for a bad accident, or the potential of somebody getting hurt. Other than that it was every man and woman for them selves. Running in and out of the pits to fix flats or open hoods or what ever and then back into the race. When the race was over about 15 cars remained and most weren’t very pretty, but that’s ok, most weren’t that pretty to start with. Walking through the pits after though there was allot of happy tired drivers and fans and most people had a great time even with the cold gloomy weather. Watch the schedule for the next round on June 22nd, it’s well worth attending.
