POINTS BATTLES ARE WRAPPING UP
by Bob Lawless – Bandit Photo The sun was shinning, the breeze was warm and everybody was relaxed . . . . until the sun went down over the turn 4 wall. You know the racing season in Canada is nearing the end on the first night at the track when the sun goes down and the blankets, parkas and gloves come out. Tonight was that night. Could it really be that expensive to put a dome over the track? The one good thing about cold air is it keeps the engines cooler and may be the reason we had no oil downs this racing night. That sure makes the night go faster. The only major problem was a wreck involving Dave Horner in one of the preliminary races. Dave got hit hard coming off turn 4 which pushed his neck brace into his shoulder. Dave had to be lifted out of the car but I suspect he’ll just be sore for a bit and will be right back at the track. Of course he didn’t look to be in to much pain when his daughter Jamie was giving him a hug later in the night. The four funs weren’t running tonight but the Hurricane Midgets and Legends showed up to fill the gap. In the mini stock feature Tyler Junkin was back for the second feature win in a row. Late Model is showing the signs of a long season with less and less cars able to make it to the track, and a few work arounds for some drivers. The 23/16 car driven by John Baker Jr./Amanda Connelly was really confusing. In the end Jamie Horner won the feature, which is the reason Dave got a hug, sore shoulder and all. Congrats to Bobby Love for winning the King of the Hill, and check out the Legends and Hurricane midget sites for their stories on the nights racing. See you next week, bring your mitties.
